As Ashley begins her last semester at Louisiana State University, she continues to wonder what exactly she will be doing after graduation. The last four years were spent studying finance and business. As she begins the job searching process, she often wonders what her career will entail.
“Old man” Jack joins the family the week of Thanksgiving. His first impression: His lovable demeanor and timid actions are immediately loved… Even as he snags a turkey leg from the kitchen counter as the family sits down to enjoy Thanksgiving dinner.
Knowing how the job market is and the months of searching for a position, Ashley accepts a job working for the State of Louisiana and sees it as a great opportunity to gain work experience.
Makes a New Year’s resolution to write more in her life. Ashley writes weekly for three months, until the resolution is broken. Again.
Pursuing a graduate degree was often on the back of her mind, Ashley finally decides it is time to head back to school. Studying for the GMAT begins along with balancing the idea of professional and personal life.
At the beginning of her MBA program, Ashley felt that pursuing a concentration in accounting and finance would be a good fit for her. But, as the months passed, she made a last minute decision to elect a general concentration allowing her to schedule an entrepreneurship class, which sparks her interest.
After months of research, Ashley finally sets a deadline for the first publication on her blog. Her goal: To publish one post during the month of September explaining what topics her blog would focus around. On September 30th, she presses publish for the first time.
Upgrades her camera and purchases her first prime lens. Begins shooting more photographs.
Takes photographs of a friend’s daughter to celebrate her 3rd birthday.
Contacts two local photographers to gain insight into photography as a business. She observes sessions and picks their brains for ideas.
Initially looking for a rescue dog for her family, Ashley stumbles upon a picture of a 9-month old terrier mix. He has an “old man” look about him with his white beard and furry eyebrows. Never expecting to adopt a dog herself, Ashley emails his foster family for more information and patiently waits to hear if he is available.

Underneath the Christmas Tree is her first DSLR camera. Christmas Day is spent taking more pictures of ornaments with a blurry background than anything else.
Ashley loses her grandmother never realizing how much her faithful actions inspired her. As her family begins to go through her belongings, Ashley learns more about her that inspires her once again. Her grandmother wrote journals. A “New Year’s resolution” to write is put back on the table. Ashley makes it a point to figure out how to create a habit of writing.
Begins her MBA program and loves spending her Saturdays studying business. She realizes just how much she missed having a “challenge” in her life.

Realizing she needs a “challenge”, Ashley begins thinking about her next task. Knowing how much she loves photography, she considers creating a personal blog. It would allow her to write (something she has always loved), improve her photography skills (something she needed), and share more of her life (something that was often difficult for her to do).
Knowing how important it was to figure out what she wanted, Ashley focuses her time on creating the type of life she envisions and less on dating… Until she says yes to go on a date with a Catholic, IT guy who has a chocolate lab. The two slowly realize how much they have in common.
Shoots her first newborn session and realizes that creating images for others is something she really enjoys.

Takes a break from blogging and social media to turn her hobby into something more professional. The quiet time allows her to think and really evaluate the type of brand she wants to create.
