You always have something to learn. I am reminded of this saying all too often, and it is one I hold dear to my heart especially with regards to photography. I will say yes to opportunities to learn, and that is how I ended up walking through the doors of Woman’s Hospital a few weeks ago to photograph a birth. Cyd with Bayou Rose Photography reached out to me with the opportunity to assist in photographing a birth, and I was eager to lend my services.
Kayla and Kyle were welcoming their third child earlier this month. With two boys in tow, both mom and dad were eager to meet the newest member of the Bueche family. However, everything changed when a checkup with mom revealed that baby had flipped and was breech. Instead of what Kayla and Kyle originally planned for their delivery, they quickly found out they were heading to the operating room for a c-section.
As a fellow labor and delivery nurse herself, Kayla was joined by many familiar faces as she nervously made her a way to the operating room. A quick kiss from her boys, a prayer with fellow co-workers, and a quiet ride down the hallway, Kayla and Kyle were off to meet the newest Bueche member and find out baby’s gender.
My favorite moment in the OR was the cheers the staff lent as dad leaned over and learned their family was welcoming a baby girl! There was clapping and hugs, and I can’t forget about the tears that trickled down mom’s cheek as she saw her baby girl for the first time.
We finished in the OR, and Kayla and Kyle quietly headed into their room keeping their faces motionless doing their best not to giveaway baby’s gender until they shared the news with their immediate family. Their two boys joined them first to meet their baby sister Blair Elizabeth! Next, followed their immediate family, and Baby Blair was placed in the hands of her grandparents and fellow siblings. Baby Blair finished with meeting all the fellow members who assisted in her birth and who work with Kayla each and every day.
Check out my favorites from Baby Blair’s arrival below!
