Happy Monday y’all! I thought we should start this week off with a few shots from my first ever newborn session. Eek! Even as I type those words I can still feel the excitement that I had that afternoon when we began shooting.
Before I left for vacation, I had a sweet friend of mine that I knew would be delivering her baby the week I was out. Being a hobbyist photographer, I often don’t ask for the opportunities to shoot for others – it is out of my comfort zone. However, lately I have been changing that mindset and playing around with the idea of creating a portfolio. With her due date and the timing of everything, I knew it was worth a shot to ask for the opportunity to photograph her newborn son. And to my luck, she said yes! Everyone, I would like to introduce Mr. Ryan James, who will go down in the books as my first newborn session.
On that Sunday afternoon, I packed up a few props in my car and headed out the door. We decided to do the shots in their home with our focus being the nursery. I was extremely excited the entire drive to their place – anticipating how it was all going to work out and happy that I was playing photographer for a few hours.
Once I arrived, we headed to the nursery and began setting up the room for the shoot. Ryan was trooper throughout the entire process… Staying quiet and sleepy. As you can see I am still learning my styles and what I like. Black and white photographs will always hold a special place in my heart – they have a timeless and classic appeal to me, and naturally that is what I leaned towards in this session. To me this is what stepping out of your comfort zone looks like.
I had a blast doing this shoot! I hope you enjoyed…and if any more opportunities like this stumble my way, I will gladly share with y’all! Thank you for reading and enjoy your day, everyone!
❤️❤️❤️To cute great pictures and yes I’m a black and white fan!
