Regardless of where you are celebrating in Louisiana, Mardi Gras is filled with a spirit that will always lead you to have a good time. This year I had the opportunity to celebrate in my hometown with the local members of the Krewe of Galatea. These ladies took inspiration from the many Louisiana festivals and created an enjoyable atmosphere for both the ballroom and the parade route. Shrimpers and lumberjacks and strawberry pickers were just some of the many costumes created. I had blast photographing these last few days as everyone celebrated this Louisiana tradition.
Louisiana will always hold a special place in my heart. The culture and spirit of this area will leave you humbled and with a feeling like everyone is family. I am so glad I was able to attend the Mardi Gras Ball where our culture was so beautifully represented. In addition to the usual Mardi Gras festivities, I had the opportunity this year to watch the parade at the reviewing stand where members toasted the king as they rode by. It was such a fun perspective shooting from this area.
As you can see, these last few days have been filled with family and celebration and fun. I always enjoy this time year and everything it represents. Until the next time, Mardi Gras!
